My Great Canadian Experience: Basketball Season
by Miguel from Spain
Basketball season was one of the best things of my year in Canada. From December to March, four busy months of lots of practices, tournaments and games.
It was really fun going to places all around BC and Alberta - Vancouver, Kelowna, Nelson, Lethbridge and Calgary were some of the places we went.
I was really lucky to be in a competitive team, in February we won the East Kootenay tournament and we qualified for BC provincials. It was an awesome week of basketball in Vancouver where we got to see the best players and teams all across the province.
I've been playing basketball since I was 6, and I'm thankful I was able to play at a high level in Canada as well. Thanks to basketball, the winter went by super fast and I didn't even notice the cold.
I was able to make lots of friends and meet other players from different towns. I'm really happy about how our season turned out, and despite we didn't do as good as we expected in provincials, we were able to compete until the end.
I'm really happy I got the opportunity to play my favorite game and enjoy everything that comes with it.
